Within the Void
“Within the Void” is all about the space around books. The project deals with the figurative appearances of books, their surrounding blanks and the supposed nothingness.
The Project contains various essays, four sculptures, several photography and screen prints. All this culminates in the book of the same name.
The text is divided into several discussions on object and subject, sculpture, the book, space, as well as Hartmut Rosa's understanding of resonance. These reflections lead to an examination of figurative phenomena.
The sculptures (coated styrofoam) are based on dolmens and triliths. They interpret the space around books and at the same time the book as a portal. Through the sculptures, the supposed nothingness enters the space and vice versa back into the book. They can be found in the original scale distributed on the pages of the book.
